Pupils are admitted to the school on receipt of an official request for placement from Birmingham City Council and provided that a suitable vacancy exists, admission can take place at any time in the school year.
Joining the School
Admissions are co-ordinated by Birmingham City Council, who are also responsible for determining the number of places available. Although placement usually results from a recommendation on a child's Education, Health and Care Plan, Birmingham City Council may request a placement as part of the ongoing assessment process. Children may be admitted at any time in the school year and arrangements to visit the school can be made by contacting the school.
-
Attendance
Regular school attendance is vital for ensuring continuity for all children. In the event of illness parents/carers must inform the school by telephoning. If we are not aware of why a child is absent we will phone parents/carers during the first day.

Meals
School meals are available to all pupils, including those with special diets.

Medication/Illness in School
If your child requires medication during the school day, it is important to ensure that adequate supplies are sent into school with a pharmacy label in place on the item and not the box. A consent form will need to be signed and will require updating on a regular basis if there are any changes to medication. (Forms can be obtained from the school)
-
Multi-Agency Working
We work very closely with a range of visiting professionals at The Bridge School and as appropriate to individual needs, our children and families are supported by a number of professionals and organisations.
-
Permission Forms
Please see below for our permission forms. Some are updated annually, whilst others remain in place for the duration of your child's time with us.
-
School Fund
Our school is proud of the welcoming and stimulating learning environment that we provide for our children and we are continually looking at ways to develop and improve our school.
-
The School Day
The school day runs from 09:00-15:30. Pupils attend school for 32.5 hours pw.
-
Transport
Although parents/carers may of course choose to bring their children to and from school each day, many pupils are transported by a fleet of minibuses and taxis contracted by Birmingham City Council for this purpose. In addition to the driver, each of these vehicles carries an escort to ensure the safety of all passengers.
-
Uniform
There is an official school uniform which we do expect pupils to wear. By this we mean a light blue shirt, polo shirt or blouse, navy blue sweatshirt, pullover or cardigan or other upper garment, with dark grey or black trousers or skirt. This can be purchased from school. All clothing should be comfortable, practical and appropriate.
