Our School Values

Our role is to enable each individual child to achieve his or her full potential through equality of opportunity provided in a multicultural and inclusive educational setting. We believe that learning should be enjoyable, lifelong experience and see parents/carers as our partners in the educative process.

Mission Statement

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (Birth to 5) and has high expectations for all our pupils. We offer hands on experiences in real life situations with flexible and personalised approaches to meet the needs of all pupils from their starting points. Planning is tailored to meet the needs of EHCP, IEP and personal goals and targets which are woven through all teaching and learning. Teaching and learning is adapted to suit individual needs and learning styles to maximise every child’s potential in physical abilities, communication skills, sensory & emotional needs and personal independence. This will support the development of curiosity, problem solving and interest in the world around them across all Prime and Specific areas of learning.

Prime Areas

Three prime areas are particularly important for learning and forming relationships. They build a foundation for children to thrive and provide the basis for learning in all areas.

These are the prime areas:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

Specific Areas

We also support children in four specific areas, which help strengthen and develop the three prime areas, and ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm.

The specific areas are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Our Intent is to:

  • Create a safe, secure, respectful and welcoming environment where children are happy.
  • Promote strong links and partnerships with parents/carers.
  • Provide a multisensory curriculum that is diverse and tailored to the needs of EHCP, IEP and personal goals and targets.
  • Nurture a lifelong love for learning.
  • Promote equal opportunities and accessibility in a respectful environment to increase confidence and self-esteem.
  • Provide play-based learning opportunities where children can express themselves using their preferred communication methods.
  • Promote communicators who are confident to interact with others.

Our Implementation will:

  • Prioritise the wellbeing of each child with positive relationships ensuring that experiences are secure, and children feel safe.
  • Allow children to build skills to become confident communicators.
  • Encourage children to want to take part in multisensory play-based learning opportunities, become independent learners, make own choices and take appropriate risks when problem solving in their play.
  • Foster a love for learning, making relationships through play-based learning and gaining transferable skills.
  • Celebrate successes along the way.

Our Impact will result in:

  • Children who love coming to school.
  • Children who enjoy playing and exploring.
  • Children who have positive relationships with adults and peers.
  • Children being independent learners who can make own choices.
  • Use of communication aids to express wants, needs, thoughts and feelings.
  • Confident learners who access ICT with enthusiasm and enjoyment, learning skills to support them in daily life.
  • Progress from starting points.
  • All stakeholders celebrating in the success of each child in the Bridge family.
