What is Purple Day?

Purple Day is an internationally-recognised epilepsy awareness day, and it falls on 26th March every year.

This day was founded in 2008 by eight-year-old Cassidy Megan from Canada. This young girl wanted to raise awareness for people with epilepsy and help them see that they are not alone.

Cassidy picked purple to represent the day because lavender is internationally recognised as the flower for epilepsy.

Over the years, Purple Day grew to become the successful epilepsy awareness day we know it as today, and one of the biggest fundraising events in the epilepsy calendar. Every year, thousands of amazing people come together to help make a difference for people living with epilepsy.
